November 4, 2008: Authenticated Date of the Sequester

By Luis F. Brizuela Cruz

Definition of Sequestration: The action of taking legal possession of assets until debt has been paid or other claims have been met. The action of taking forcible possession of something; confiscation, impounding, seizure.

This is the tale of two sequestrations.

The government sequester of certain expenditures have officially, if not yet realistically, materialized, amid the customary -by now sickening- propaganda from the two political parties which rule our nation. The recently tentative conservatives cannot allow themselves to openly demonstrate their satisfaction with the necessary austere measures being taken, which up to a few weeks ago appeared to be fully supported by the White House in a totally bipartisan way. President Obama, in an outrageous display of  hypocrisy, flip flopped his position regarding the cuts in the budget claiming that such actions, deriving from the insensitivity of the republicans,  were damaging and immoral, as they would affect an array of jobs and services. It must be noted that the “Illusionist in Chief” had initially proposed and agreed to these reductions in spending, but as the zero hour approached, in typical Obama fashion -and fully aware of the populist support of his socialist ideas- the President backtracked, alleging the cruelty of the measures and proposing instead additional taxation to, once again, "level" the playing field.

The undeniable reality is that there is an extremely dangerous case of spending in the United States of America and an urgent need not just to address it in rhetorically political fashion, but to immediately and effectively carry out measures to correct the problem; while the sacrifice and hardship this may bring are still bearable. It is also imperative that such measures occur while there is a certain level of conscience and concern for the preservation of our nation left among our citizenry. A quick look at many European nations should give us the cue of what a generally apathetic society can be and the irreversible damage that mindset can cause.

On November 4, 2008, a majority of our citizenry rendered their vote in favor of a young, inexperienced Senator from the highly corrupt political spectrum of Chicago to become our 44th President. Four years later, completely dismissing his ties with anti-American elements, his inability to restore honor and respect among friends and foes and his abusive squandering of the wealth of the nation -resulting in the biggest spending of any president in history- a bit more than half of the population reaffirmed its allegiance with Obama’s leftist mantra of social justice and redistribution of wealth. By virtue of a democratic populist consensus, a republic had surrendered to perpetual indebtedness and moral and material sequestration.

In spite of the accusations and finger pointing that so vividly exemplifies the politics of our times, as well as the rivaling passions that they ignite amid the public, it is unlikely that we will see, anytime soon, an outrage or a revolt by the masses. In a prosperous nation like ours such outbursts are not common as long as the groups being affected are the fiscally responsible and wealth producers within the society. Their discontent and periods of financial duress, thus often verbalized, are normally mitigated and compensated by the doubling up on their obligations and endeavors.  Only when the dependent, the idle, the unproductive and the vociferous begin to feel shortchanged and ignored, we shall see absolute chaos in our world. It would be at that precise moment when the full consequences of the sequestration of our will as a nation -that became authenticated on that infamous November 4, 2008 and ratified on November 6, 2012- reach the envious, the selfish, the entitled and the misinformed that a rude awakening may occur.

Two hundred years of formidable capitalism -which has led to the greatest accumulation and distribution of wealth by a nation in human history- would probably allow various generations to survive on this new socialistic and tyrannical sequester of what once was the indomitable spirit of a nation. When the virtue of renewal and the last of the tenacious finally cease to be, it would mark the beginning of our demise and we shall pass on to the history books alongside the other great societies which experienced similar moral and subsequent material detriments.

Excellent!!! Rewarding to see that "the last of the tenacious" are still around. Appreciate your effort in aiding others with clearing up their foggy social and political minds. Some task, but someone has to try to do it. Thank you!

Visiting again and satisfied to see that someone outhere is still trying to alert the inept and ignorant masses of the great evils coming their way, many already here, at our doorsteps. Some of my friends think of me as negative and pesimistic. I got news for them and everyone else who don't see the destruction of our world at the hands of these "new Socialists". Since when have they ever been a benefit to society? They are bad even for the people who they claim they are trying to help. Thanks for the post.

These are crazy times in which we are living, and the one common denominator that keeps surprising me and caught me totally off guard, is the fact that I never realized how many "closeted" socialists we have amongst us. Which begs the following question to be answered. Why, if people are so dissatisfied with capitalism (as it were) and prefer a more socialistic society, then why not give up their assets and go live among the people in those socialistic nations? Here is the answer: It is very easy being a Socialist/Communist in this country. I'm so ticked off at the likes of Sean Penn, Oliver Stone, and the Hollywood establishment who are so far removed from the rest of us, yet praise tyrants like Hugo Chavez and his cronies.
